Snow Removal Within the Village
The 2008-2009 snow removal season is now here and First Class has been contracted to provide you with timely and efficient snow removal services.
The services apply to snowfall accumulation that reaches 2” depth or greater. Depending on the time of the snowfall, our snow removal equipment may be on the property in the early hours of the morning, or overnight. We apologize for any disturbance or inconvenience this may cause.
In order for us to provide you with the quality service that you deserve, we will need your help. We ask that you avoid leaving cars parked on your street curb because we cannot plow areas surrounding parked cars. Although this may seem inconvenient, we simply do not want to damage any vehicles during snow removal, and hope that you understand.
Also, please note that snow removal creates ridges of snow along both edges of the street and around structures such as cars. These ridges are considered a normal occurrence, and will not be removed.
Do not be alarmed if at first you see that we have only plowed one strip down the middle of the street. This is the first step of snow removal, and is referred to as a ‘breakout’. The breakout is done to all “primary streets” so that homeowners may be able to access their streets in the quickest possible manner. After the breakout is complete, the plow trucks will then return to clear snow all the way to the curb lines. Usually heavy snow falls may take the greater part of 24 hours to clear and require several passes by the plowing crews. The schedule for the secondary streets, alleys, designated sidewalks and driveways will be evaluated by the amount of snow fall and duration of the storm.
Please contact the Owners Association with any questions you may have.
Snow Removal throughout the City
Up to 3” of Snow: The City salts and/or plows only main streets such as Rangeline Road, Main Street, Gray Road, Springmill Road, 116th Street, etc., and secondary streets such as Brookshire Parkway, Lakeshore Drive East and West, Adios Pass, Avian Way, etc.
3" or More of Snow: Main and secondary streets are salted and/or plowed as the snow falls. After the majority of the snowing, blowing, or sleeting has ceased; a complete city plow is started with every street in the City being plowed. (Cul-de-sacs are not ALWAYS plowed out completely. This is usually only done when the snowfall is considerably more than 3".) Salting is routinely done only on main and secondary streets. Bridges, hills and intersections are salted as needed.
If you are a senior living in Carmel and need help removing snow from your drive or sidewalks, please call 571-2580 and volunteers from the community will be called and scheduled to assist you.
If you have any questions or concerns about city streets please contact the City of Carmel Street Department at 317-733-2001 or visit their website at http://www.ci.carmel.in.us/services/street.html. |

| Letters & Invoices |
|
In mid-December all residents should have received a summary of the Owners Association 2009 budget along with a letter detailing the process. Included in this mailing was your first invoice for 2009. If you did not receive your packet of information, or have any questions, please contact the Owners Association at 574-1164. |

| Neighborhood Directory Update |
|
| The Owners Association will begin updating the Neighborhood Directory in early January. If you have not yet stopped by the OA, located in Trustee’s Hall, and filled out a Resident Directory Form, please do so at your earliest convenience. Please also take a moment to check your entry in the current directory (in both the regular listings and the “Neighborhood Resources” section) and make sure all your information is still correct. As phone numbers and emails change, children move out, and adults change careers, personal listings, especially in the “Neighborhood Resources”, may become out of date. Please contact Lissa at the Owners Association at 574-1164 or lissah@vwcownersassn.com with any updates or changes. |

| Damages & Vandalism |
|
While we all like to assume that everyone in the Village respects their community and the property within it, this is unfortunately not the case. When damages are done to buildings, signs, etc. within the Village, it is ultimately the residents that feel this in the form of their dues. If you see anyone damaging property, equipment, etc., please contact the police immediately with any information. Below is a list of damages or acts of vandalism that have been discovered in the Village in the month of December alone (through December 12th):
- The round-about sign south of Colfax Circle on Meeting House Road had fallen, and while the OA was making arrangements to have it re-hung, someone stole it. A new sign had to be purchased.
- Someone hit the sign at Meeting House Road and Hoover Road, completely destroying the post. While the stop sign was able to be re-hung on a new post, someone stole the “Meeting House Road” street sign. (Accident was not reported)
- The stop sign at Parson’s Gate and Horseferry Road was hit and damaged. Stop sign had to be replaced (Accident was not reported)
- An alley light was hit and broken, and had to be replaced. (Accident was not reported)
One of the door handles to the front door at the Provost Clubhouse was ripped off.
The benches in the Gothic Gazebo at Kew Pond were re-stained due to age. Immediately after being re-stained and put back out, names were carved into them.
Three sets of batteries for remotes in the various Clubhouses had to be replaced due to them being taken or thrown away.
